"What's All-Bran?" Elon asks every morning, struggling to read the back of the Bran Flakes box of cereal he has every morning for breakfast. "Daddy says it looks like worms..."
"Yup," I say, "it does. I used to have it for breakfast every morning when I was a little girl."
No surprise then, that this morning's breast cancer news claims eating healthy amounts of fibre reduces the risk of breast cancer in the pre-menopausal woman. We never have anything other than wholemeal bread in this house, we have porridge or Bran Flakes for breakfast, we swim in fruit and vegetables.
I want to see the report that tells me why the extremely healthy and fit, apparently non-gene carrying woman, who had children young and breastfed them, gets breast cancer. I think the scientists are approaching this the wrong way round - looking at what people do wrong, instead of working out the connections from the healthy habits...bound to be one of those which turns out to be the cause.
