I found a recent article you wrote (in the Guardian, of course) and I admire your writing style, especially about this topic. So often it's easy to become maudlin about cancer, but your pieces are concise, pithy, and piercing.

My mother has metastatic breast cancer (inflammatory, diagnosed in 2004, recently spread to chest wall and now to the brain) and we've experienced plenty of soppy, believe me. She, fortunately, has splendid doctors, and that has made a significant difference.

Good luck with your fight---cancer really sucks.
