Your are embarking down a dark dangerous road subscribing to the Bookseller, Dina! You will be permanently bitter and angry every time you read an issue, and note how much more money your publishers are lavishing on others; how many more ads your fellow authors appear to be getting; all the awards you never knew existed and which you have never heard of for obvious reasons...

Yes, I see that. I've only been a subscriber for an hour and I'm already a more horrible person than I was earlier today. Lucky, really, that this is a 30-day free trial, so just as long as I remember to cancel before the month is up, I can have my pre-Bookseller personality back. Since I'm not sure S&S are even going to take up the offer of FREE advertising from the IPC director - because it means they might have to pay somebody to produce an ad - I am already pulp in the Bookseller's jaws.

P.S. And don't think I didn't notice, Francesca, Horrid Henry's Joke Book, in the Top Ten bestsellers...you are not allowed any portions of envy at all!!

Don't forget, I'm a battle-scarred and seasoned subscriber. My husband would return home every friday and ask what had infuriated me in that day's issue. And yes, there was always something heinous.

Dina rabinovitch

ok - that's is, I'm cancelling my subscription...life's too short to be tracking Simon and Schuster's financial fortunes!
